From his workshop in Iga, Mie Prefecture — a city long known for the quiet dedication of its craftsmen — Nakamae Nobuji spent nearly three decades making handmade interior pieces for the Eunos Roadster and Mazda MX-5 Miata. His work became legendary among Roadster enthusiasts around the world.
Nothing left his workshop mass-produced. Every seat, every quilted cover, every leather piece was made by hand, to order, one at a time. Customers waited months — sometimes longer. The quality never varied. His philosophy was simple: ヌーベルクラッシック — Nouveau Classic. New things made to feel timeless.

Nakamae-san described his work with a phrase that said everything: Nouveau Classic. New things made to feel timeless. His seats could be mistaken for rare 1960s coachwork from a British or German atelier. That was never an accident — it was the result of a lifetime of intention.
He worked alone. He set his own priorities. He never rushed. In a world of injection-moulded shortcuts, Nakamae-san always chose the longer road — and his customers, who waited months and years for their pieces, understood exactly why.
